Status as of February 16, 2010:  HB1254 has been awaiting action in the Judiciary Committee since it was introduced on April 13, 2009.  This very important legislation will help relieve the tremendous suffering tethered dogs endure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  

Please contact your State Representative and ask him/her to support HB1254.  Remember this is a House bill not a Senate bill so be sure to contact your State Representative, not your Senator.  

Take action to end continual tethering:

NOTE:  In the upper right hand corner of the page is a box entitled "Find Members By".  Type in your zip      code and the four digit extension assigned by the post office.   (If you are not sure of your four digit extension, look on any utility bill or piece of junk mail.)  Click "Go" and the website will bring up the name of your State Representative.  Click on his/her name and all necessary information will come up.  Please contact your state representative at their district/local) office.  

We strongly suggest you call his/her district (local) office to voice your support of this legislation in addition to writing a letter*. 
Remember, legislators will focus on what their constituents are most vocal about.  If they don't hear from you on this issue, it isn't going to be on their radar.  Your future vote (or the potential loss of that vote) is what matters most.

2.  Contact the Chairman of the State House Judiciary Committee:  The Honorable Thomas R. Caltagirone is the chairman of this committee.  Please contact him and ask that HB1254 be brought to the floor for a vote.
